How to apply?
It is our aim at the Department of the Premier and Cabinet (DPC) to attract and retain the best talent available. This application
process is therefore your opportunity to tell us about the skills and experience
you feel you can offer.
Eligibility
To be appointed to a position in DPC, you will need to be either an Australian resident,
or hold a relevant work permit for the duration of the position. If you have any
questions about your eligibility to apply for a position, please refer to the contact
person listed in the advertisement.
Before you start
- Review the position description. The position description provides a summary of
the position including key accountabilities and also describes the degree of competency
a person doing the job will need. For example:
- 'Knowledge' means that you understand the requirement, the legislation etc.
- 'Demonstrated' or 'proven' means that you have actually performed the activity or
used the skill in the past.
- 'Thorough', 'sound' or 'high level' indicates that you have an advanced level of
skill, knowledge or experience.
- If you require further information about the position, contact the person appearing
on the advertisement.
- Discuss with your referees how well you match the requirements of the job.
- Preview the online Application Form. Although this is optional, previewing the form
will enable you to prepare information for the online application process.
- Prepare a covering letter, a maximum of two pages in length that clearly outlines
how your skills, experience and knowledge fit the selection criteria outlined in
the Position Description. Be clear, concise and factual.
- Update your CV, so it is ready to upload. Your CV should, at a minimum, show your:
- name, address and telephone contact numbers
- education details
- employment history (focusing on the most recent and relevant) and other applicable
experience
- details for three current referees (including their name, position title, address
and telephone number), including your current manager/supervisor, if possible.
- Proof read your documents and check your spelling and grammar.
Now you're ready to apply
- Click on 'Start New Application'.
- Carefully read the DPC Privacy Statement. If you click 'Accept', you will be
indicating your understanding and acceptance of the DPC Privacy Statement and you
will be automatically directed to the next stage of the application process. If
you do not 'Accept', you will not be able to proceed with the online application
process.
- You will be asked to enter your personal details including your name and email address.
Please ensure that your email address is correct and valid, as this will become
part of your login in the future.
- You will be asked to complete the online application form and at the end of this
process, you will be asked to upload a covering letter and your current CV.
- When you reach the end of the online application form, you will have the opportunity
to review your application. When you are satisfied with the information you have
entered, click 'Submit'.
What happens next
- You will receive an automated email from DPC confirming that your application has
been received.
- A selection panel will consider all applications received by the closing time.
- You will receive advice from DPC regarding the outcome of your application.
- If your application is progressed to the next stage of the selection process, you
will receive advice from DPC. Details of any interview or other selection techniques
will then be provided to you.
